Ice storm hit last night. Many tree branches down in our road and we had to drag six or seven long branches to the sidewalk from the back garden. Lost my lilac tree :-(

Then the power went out from 1.30 to now. We were all prepped with candles and we have an open fire. David had just started cooking on the BBQ when power came back but the lights keep flickering.

Hope all of my friends in the path of this storm are well. Sending hugs.

So sorry about your tree. Glad you have a fireplace and bbq to help get you through the worst of it. Hoping you and your family have a lovely Christmas, despite the inclement weather!

Nasty! Though it does help that you're not all electric. I miss my coal fire, which kept the whole house really warm all winter, but - long story - I had to have it taken out and the chimney removed. Electric heating is effortless, but not as efficient.

The lilac might survive - they will sucker from the roots, after all. OK, not the same tree, but its offspring?

A friend from LA just flew back home to Toronto and texted that it is ghastly! Hope you are hanging in....
