Today we had freezing temperatures and bright blue sky and trees made of diamonds. Seriously, that is what they looked like as the setting sun shone through them. Never seen anything as beautiful and it kills me that the photos don't capture it but here are four anyway.

Those are lovely, though I know what you mean about not being able to capture them. The ones I've taken--the best ones--I've used one particular method. You stand so you're looking up, through the branches, with the sun just out of the frame. It tends to give you a lot of sparkliness.

The last one's my favorite.

oh! Thanks for the tip. I'm going to give that a try next time my part of NJ looks like that. I have to be quick though. It usually melts in a couple of hours when it happens

Beautiful to look at, but I bet it will a pita to clean up after. :-)

Merry Xmas to you.

I know what you mean. Of all the things the camera doesn't quite capture the snow and ice are the most disappointing -- though the last one came out very nice.

Merry Christmas!

They look lovely... and cold!

The last one probably caught the sparkling quality best, but my favourite is the first one.
