Anyone watch this? Eleanor found it and we're mainlining season one before the start of season two. It's like Psych if Shawn had made it into the police force. Peralta even uses some Shawn-like phrases and physical humor. 'I've heard it both ways' got used and a 'Whaaaat?' which made me grin. Funny, warm, and Andre Braugher as the gay captain is my favorite character for his deadpan delivery and no-nonsense assumption of control over his new team.

I like the way there are love interests, yes, but they don't overwhelm the plot and the female characters aren't there just to BE love interests. It edges toward the wacky and even worse, the heart-warming, but never quite crosses the line and there are moments that work brilliantly (Peralta punching out a guy who insulted the captain being one of them).

I really really liked Brooklyn 99, which surprised me because I'd previously found Andy Samburg annoying. The show is great and funny and loving, and actually seems to try to represent its city's diversity. I am so nervous that they wont keep it up, and so excited to see them try for season 2.

I think it's a great range of people, including older men. I like that everyone isn't super-pretty and young; they look normal, you know?

I do! As you said, they've found a good balance between comedy and serious moments. I love that they have such strong characters and some topics and outcomes you don't get to see often on screen. It's a bit of a unique show when you think about it. The cast has also made some very insightful comments about their roles and what they meant to them which reminded me of the Sleepy Hollow cast. Kinda made me feel like there's a new generation of actors and actresses (and writers and producers) who wanna do something different at last. Anyway, really good show and getting better.

I think they've done a great job in not having cookie-cutter personalities and they're doing slow reveals not throwing everything out there all at once; I love it.

I've meant to watch Season 1 as well. It's gotten very good reviews here. And of course, Andre Braugher, who is never bad in anything.
