anonymous reviews that ask questions (how can I answer?) and raise points (how can I counter them?) If they're just nasty, it's easy; you ignore them or delete them if they're totally obnoxious. But if they're critical... I just got one on ff.net for my latest fic, "The Final Word"

Well it's a point of view. But the callousness, selfishness and shallowness of this so-called Watcher (Quentin Travers was never this much of a prick) is a calumny on Giles' and in his way Wesley's devotion and self-sacrifice. So pardon me for really really *not* liking your take on things. Y'know the premise of the show is kind of "demons not a good thing"...ergo Slayer.
Now, I'd like to explain to them that they missed the shades of grey, to agree that yes, I made the Watcher callous but hey, there's precedent. I'd like to say, well, what do _you_ think they'd do in this case? Hasn't Angel the show in particular shown us that not all demons are bad but you have to get to know them to find it out? As far as we know, only Buffy has learned this and that's centuries of killing. Also, the split loyalties of this Slayer made it still more complicated. I would have liked to see Buffy have qualms about killing vamps while she was sleeping with Spike.
But I can't say any of this...I hate anonymous reviews :-(
