Got Netscape back. Saved everything we could, d/led it again and it took 3 mins and everything was still there so we didn't even need to have copied things, though we had to for peace of mind. Cannot figure out what on earth happened at all. Tried system restore (which is incredibly cool) and it said nothing had changed. Chalk it up to computers being funny sometimes, I guess...
David most unsympathetic at my panic at potentially losing my feedback file; why do I keep it? Isn't that vain? Blah, blah...I never used to actually, but then someone said they did and I thought, well, why not? Is that weird? I don't spend hours reading it or anything but it's nice in a slump to go and see that people liked your fics.
Thanks for all the helpful suggestions and sympathy. The blind, unreasoning panic of losing things is scary :-(
