We had a bunny in the garden this morning, the children found a toad this afternoon (PD day; got a houseful) and now...they found a snapping turtle in the garden. It's big; about two foot long and with a long tail. I called animal control (at 3.40 p.m) and was told it was 'after hours' which made me cross. They're coming out to get it tomorrow...I pointed out it might not be there then and I'm certainly not trying to make sure it is. The cats bounded up to it and didn't like it, so they're in the house now, as is Lauren.
Poor thing; we have a pond at the end of the road and I've seen them in there, but that's quite a way for it to have walked when the information I got on the net says it likes to stay in the water - and can be dangerous on land.
