I'm one aching, tired Jane this morning; we were up 'til midnight sorting through the books and carrying the damaged ones upstairs. The worst have been frozen, the others are on the library floor. A lot were from the 'junk' section which I'm not too bothered about, but, oh, my Encyclopedia of SF got hit and some really rare non CS Brent Dyers (Carnation of the Upper Fourth ::mourns::) Thankfully it's a sunny, fresh day with a nice breeze. If they stay readable it's all I ask. Roget's Thesaurus is as wet as if I'd dropped it in the bath; others have an inch of wet on the leading edge, no more.
I'm about to start the cleanup but as I won't have time to reply to all the comments until later I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who was there with suggestions to save the books, offers to look for replacement, and hugs. That combination of practical and caring just sums up LJ to me.
:;much love::
