I'm such a lucky author. The wonderful [personal profile] laurie_ky podficced my Firefly/Sentinel story, 'Flying Into the Black' and the equally wonderful [personal profile] malnpudl podficced it for the Amplificathon in a remix.

Full details of both podfics are here.

I love how fics can get art for them and podded and remixed and riffed off...it's just this overflow of creativity and it's so exciting.
It's not a proper vid; it's 30 seconds long and just me having fun smooshing together some clips of Womack and Ellison and Jim's reaction to his descendant ;-) The song's the Sentinel soundtrack.

And now I'll get on with the housework. I'm far too easily distracted.

Google vid under the cut.

Flying Into the Black )

Or d/l it here

I'm sitting on three fics ready to post and not getting posted because the next one up is supposed to be the 500th and I was going to do something different for it. They've been on my hard drive for weeks; the foursome one I began on the Vancouver holiday in July.

Oh, what the hell. If I add in scraps and snippets I'm probably well past 500 anyway.

So I'll break the deadlock and post one ::closes eyes and stabs finger::

Okay. The Firefly/The Sentinel crossover, which may never get continued (I want to, really, really do, but no promises) but is fairly complete in that you can see where they're going.

Background for those who need it: A Sentinel has heightened senses and protects his village, historically. In The Sentinel, Jim Ellison was a police officer and it was a city and he did it with the help of a man able to guide him and protect him when his senses overloaded, leaving him vulnerable; Blair Sandburg.

Let's jump forward 500 years or whatever into the Fireflyverse, and we meet Lieutenant Womack, a corrupt, violent cop who's just royally fucked up a mission he took on his own time (The Message)and who is now in big trouble with the Alliance. And about to meet his own Sandburg who's also a little darker around the edges.

This is how he looks. Note the gloves ;-) Womack )

This fic's about 3,500 words long and follows immediately on from The Message.

Flying Into the Black )
After a hard day doing clean up and dealing with the insurance people I flopped on the couch to watch Serenity with the commentary on.

And had to get up and write a Simon/Jayne drabble just because. No spoilers.

Back to flopping. And did I mention our hardwood floor has to be ripped up? No? And the book claim is almost $2,000 which I'm not sure will fly but, hey, they can check on Amazon and Bookfinder themselves if they don't believe me... and they've offered to freeze dry the ones already in my freezer if I want. For $350, mind you...

Habit Forming

"I ain't a girl."

He gives Jayne a baffled smile. As he's got his hand wrapped around the part of Jayne that proves that beyond a shadow of a doubt, it seems an odd comment to make.

And Jayne doesn't usually talk much when they do… this. Just looks at Simon, hot-cold eyes and a beckoning sneer, and as soon after as they can manage it, they're somewhere private doing… quiet things.

"You're touching me like I'm your sister."

He's being tender? To Jayne? Caring?

"Don't."

Simon's hand moves just so.

And Jayne's mouth whispers what Simon's thinking.

"That's better."
This has spoilers for 'Serenity' so I'll cut, but it's PG and gen, set midway through the movie.

Desecrate Me )
One of those impulse fics... around 300 words. No spoilers.

I do so like this pairing ;-)

Alone Time )
Back from skating (with Sharpe's Waterloo video from the library! Yes!)with two tired, miserable, over indulged children, one of whom was still awake at midnight according to the sleepover mom. There have been tears. I expect more. I'm tired too and sore throaty and floaty.

Which explains why, when I read my friends page and saw birthday girl [livejournal.com profile] girlwithjournal ask for River/Jayne, I sat down and wrote a River/Jayne ficlet.

I love Firefly, own the DVD, watched every episode...but I don't write it and I'm supposed to be writing S/X or replying to an overflowing in box, or...I'm officially insane.
