Happy Birthday to two lovely, talented people,
up_your_peach and
mab_browne.
I hoep today is bringing you more than chocolate, yummy though that is, and that you're both enjoying your special days :;much love::
We woke to find Lauren had a temperature and is coming down with something; her ears are a bit painful but the Easter Bunny arriving has perked her up a bit.
We're going to friends for the afternoon; have to see how she copes.
And all of us who know her are sending good thoughts and what help we can to
luvsbitch who's with her son, Matt, who is is a critical condition but I just wanted to give props to
itsabigrock who's not in a great place herself but still took the time a week or so ago to set up a comm to cheer Luvs up:

This is part of why I love LJ and all of you.
Lauren decided to write a shopping list yesterday (a lot of it in French, which is encouraging given her report had a lot of Cs on it). Amongst the pommes and poires was an entry for 'hot god buns'.
David and I discovered later, after our amusement had died down, that it wasn't a subtle comment on the symbolism inherent in 'hot cross buns'.
No.
It was hot dog buns and she'd spelled it wrong.
I'm a lapsed Catholic; have been for thirty years; I don't identify with that faith or any other and I don't believe in God. But I do sometimes get an urge to talk to my children about religion when something like Easter comes around because they should know about the history of it all. I explained Easter, with a nod to the rites of spring, and got a hostile response. People dying and coming back to life just wasn't what they wanted to hear. In fact Eleanor painstakingly explained to me that it's all about the Easter Bunny, 'who brings joy to the world, Mom.'
Oh, boy. Now that, I don't find as funny as hot god buns.
