Busy, busy, busy...
Today was Lauren's soccer finals day. They lost 1-0 which was better than Stoke, poor babies, who lost away from home 2-1 and had their shiny new player injured after 14 mins or so.
After the game we went round to a pool party hosted by the parents of one of the girls on her team which was very nice. It was only a few minutes walk away and a beautiful, if humid night. I swear, I'm going to start growing mould on me soon.
Eleanor is at a sleepover with several friends, focused around going to see Scott Pilgrim and spending time with her BFF who is moving to Newfoundland (SUCH A LONG WAY AWAY!) the day after E's birthday. She's devastated. Thank God for the net and Skype, that's all I can say.
David's gone to bed early feeling grotty with a cold so I've been very good and updated my webpage which made me feel accomplished on the one hand and sad at the total dearth of fics recently. I mean, yes, I've written a 70,000 word novel since June 1, so go me, but I feel so blocked fic-wise it's not funny. I keep starting things and not finishing them which isn't like me at all.
I had a fist-pump moment followed by a vengeful hiss of glee earlier this week. I'm getting sadly used to my books being put up for free download the day they're freaking published (grr) but a Google alert pointed me at a page where someone was going one better (worse?) and CHARGING FOR EBOOK DOWNLOADS. She had thousands of files there from Stephen King to many m/m authors I recognised, including Alexa and me. I confirmed with my publisher that she wasn't an authorised reseller and their lawyers came down on her with a mighty wrath, bless them, and her site is No More.
Bloody cheek. I mean, honestly. I was SEETHING.
I suppose I should go to bed now. Even though Eleanor is probably still up which feels so wrong :-)
