The mailman just delivered a box for me from Amazon with an eclectic mix: two more Psych novels, Richard Burgi in 'Wheelmen', which I'm looking forward to and Volume 1 of Bill Patterson's new Heinlein bio, 'Robert Heinlein: In Dialogue With His Century'
I was mildly stunned to pop into F-W last night and see that Bill's book is on there. Wow. Did not expect that at all. I haven't had time to read up on the kerfuffle, but Bill's a gentleman and a scholar and I can't wait to read this book. He's spent years writing it and he and Ginny Heinlein had the chance to talk a lot in the months before her death which is something most of Heinlein's other biographers didn't.
Bill was, incidentally, my first editor and publisher in his capacity as editor of The Heinlein Journal, which published a few articles by me back in the day. He started me thinking that hey, maybe I could write, and I'll always be grateful to him for that and many years of entertaining discussion on alt.fan.heinlein and our AOL chat group.
