Made this yesterday with rhubarb from the garden. Delicious! We have an ice cream maker but it'd be fine without one. You can skip the Kirsch (I used a dash of framboise but that was more because I had it to hand) and she has the sugar amount different in two places but I used half a cup as I had more rhubarb than the recipe and it was fine. I also used a stick blender once it was all together in the bowl because even mushy the rhubarb was too much there if you know what I mean. And I don't think straining the strawberries was vital if they're well and truly blended. I had very little left in the sieve.
