After taking us to Pelee and back, the car died again yesterday. It was sluggish turning over, but started and we went shopping for back to school stuff for E who starts fourth grade and L who starts JK.

Lauren was easy; a Dora the Explorer lunch box. Eight dollars.

Eleanor...over a hundred dollars and she doesn't have a calculator yet. A hundred dollars. Wtf? How did all those under three dollar items we hurled merrily into the trolley, fighting off the crazed shoppers clutching at Crayola Twistables with fevered, grabby paws, add up to all that much? My God, she'll need a truck not a backpack.

Backpacks. Eight shops and finally we found one that sold Kim Possible ones. ::sigh::

It's very cool though :-)))

We had none of this; I had a leather satchel (brown) and a pencil case (black) - and at E's age I had nothing. No snack time then, no need to take in your own supplies...

Anyway; the car. Got us home and then as we all jumped in to go to E's last soccer game last night (finals on Sunday) it wouldn't start. We went in the Camaro, kids wedged in the back, and left the battery charging but it's dead again now so David's off buying a new one (battery, not car ;-)).

I hate this. I hate not knowing when it's going to break and we've been so lucky it's never done it too far from home.

And E's team lost again. One win, one draw, the rest all losses. Darn. She played really well too and yes, it's all about the fun, but it has to be discouraging for them. The coaching has been abysmal; David's helped out all he can but the official coach is rarely there, has cancelled games and practices at the drop of a hat and doesn't have a clue. Not entirely his fault as he didn't want to do it, but it's not fair on the kids.
