I was discussing some books I loved as a child and I wondered; has anyone read 'The Land of Green Ginger' by Noel Langley, or A.A Milne's 'Once On a Time'? Hilarious both of them, for adults as well as, or more so, than children. I've read them many times...

I still own pretty much every children's book I ever got my hands on, and still read them, too. I have mad moments and devour Enid Blyton books at a rate of knots; I travelled back from England to Canada with the St Clare's books for company once.

Authors I like, who wrote childrens books I still read:

The contemporary Geoffrey Trease books
Elinor M Brent-Dyer
Elsie Oxenham
L.M Montgomery
Richmal Crompton
E. Nesbit
Edward Eager
Eleanor Estes
Elizabeth Enright
Eve Garnett
Dorita Fairlie Bruce
Susan Cooper
Helen Dore Boylston
Enid Blyton
Laura Ingalls Wilder
Jane Langston
Eleanor Farjeon
Jean Webster
Joan Aiken
Frances Hodgson Burnett
Loisa M Alcott
Susan Coolidge
Alan Garner
Elizabeth Goudge
E.W Hildick
Lorna Hill
Gene Stratton Porter
Arthur Ransome
Noel Streatfield
P L Travers

Anyone else know/like them? Most are out of print authors these days, which is a shame, but now and then they get reissued.
