My bruises are spectacular. Really are. The one on my arm especially is this black/purple shading to red and about the size of a plum. One toe and my ankle are still puffy and I'm strained and achy across my shoulders.
And yes, playing it for all I can get in the way of sympathy ;-) We went to see 'Wimbledon' last night and I came back to find David whimpering because the phone rang and the cat exploded off his lap in a panic and scored his leg with his itty-bitty cat sized claws. Ha! I soon dealt with that blatant attempt to snaffle my throne as Hurt Person in the House and casually placed my ankle in full view of the room as I coughed meaningfully.
Wimbledon was fun. Not brill, but fun. Paul Bettany is seriously pretty and I felt the usual wave of homesickness that Celia Imrie and co bring out in me (Acorn Antiques. Say no more.) Kirsten Dunst though....meh. Totally unconvincing as a love interest and not half nasty enough. I really couldn't figure out why/how they fell in love in two weeks and one montage isn't going to do it. The German friend and PB is a pairing I can get behind though. Oh, my yes...
Just finished baking cupcakes for E to take to school and sell so they can go on field trips like I never got to.
No, I can't just buy them from Sobeys.
Yes, I have to then give both of them money to buy them back tomorrow.
No, I can't just bung a tenner in an envelope and cut out the middle man.

And I am Cruellest Mom Ever. E came back with a note from her teacher saying she doesn't know her French alphabet and French numbers to 100. As she got excellent marks last year and it's only two weeks into the term, can't help wondering what the hell happened over the summer. I forced her to recite the alphabet which she did easily enough and she's now in the basement writing out 1 to 100 en francais. As she got 20 out of 20 on a test requiring her to write out 1 to 20 just last week I'm a little puzzled but heaven knows they are sort of tricky in places...
