Just reading the first in a Nora Roberts trilogy, 'Key of Light', usual thing; three women, three lovers, mystical quest as background; but still fun, and I came across this;
Malory glanced over as Zoe came back with three thick white mugs of coffee on a tray. "I had a dream."
"I was having a damn good one myself. I think it involved Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and a really big vat of dark chocolate, and then you called and interrupted it."
As Nora's a BtVS fan, she often puts references like that in...but later, there's this:
When he stepped toward her, she snatched a bread knife off the counter. "Put your hands on me again, I'll hack them off at the wrist."
The woman speaking is named Dana ;-)
The book was published in November 2003,and presumably written much earlier, way before 'Damage' aired, so it's pure coincidence, but heh, made me smile.
