Just wanted to say a group 'thanks' to all who commented on the diorama photos yesterday; Eleanor was so thrilled that you did and went about with a huge grin on her face.

[livejournal.com profile] phendog I know just what you mean, but sadly, the shops were closed by then and the project was due at school this morning...maybe we can do it ourselves when it comes home.

The sea was a piece of cardboard painted with white glue mixed with food colouring. We put a piece of bubble wrap on top, also painted with the glue, but it sort of soaked in, so the bubble wrap stayed mostly translucent and gave a really good effect. Then we cut a small hole in it and pushed the seal up from underneath.

Did you know polar bears have black skin (to trap the heat) and their fur isn't white, but see through? Each hair is transparent, with a hollow core that reflects light, like snow and ice. A useful piece of trivia indeed ;-)

Now back to editing Ats: No Limits...

::hugs::
