After my sulk, I took direct action. I asked the library if they had much for me to do, they said no so I grabbed my best friend and we went shopping until 9.00 pm. I bought clothes. Three tops, three bottoms. That's Spike and Xander, Giles and...just kidding.
I've lived in leggings and baggy tops for years. I'm moving on. I have real clothes and I'm wearing them. OK, my pale fawn trousers are smudged with the ever present blue play doh but I still look good. And I feel good too. Hair cut booked for next week. New me.
I'm marginally miffed though; someone I don't know asked me to beta the fifth chapter of their story. I said yes, spent an hour on it and now it's posted...and he hasn't changed anything. Every spelling mistake, every missing comma...still there or missing, why, I don't know. Never, ever doing it again. This is twice unknown terrible writers have wasted my time and shown zero appreciation. Beta reading for all of you is a pleasure. I get to read wonderful stories early and make suggestions, tiny tweaks. I don't get handed unspellchecked stuff (he said he'd sent me the wrong file by mistake and there was a spell checked one around...) and have to practically rewrite it. Grr.
