Happy Birthday
rubyblushu! May it be happy from start to finish :;smooches and spanks:;
I'm just beginning a re-read of my Monsieur Pamplemousse books. I adore them. They're by Michael Bond, the author of the Paddington Bear books, but are very definitely for adults. Anyone ever come across them? He's a food critic, working for Le Guide, with his trusty dog Pommes Frites. He was once, before the incident with the chorus girls at the Folies, a policeman and he gets embroiled in these fantastic plots. The descriptions of food and drink are incredible; I borrowed a bottle of wine from there for Wes and Faith to drink in Secretary once. And there's always at least one bit where I end up laughing so hard the tears run and I literally can't speak. The later ones aren't quite as good, but God, the one where he's stuck in the automated portaloo....
Like most people, I watched The Mountain; was JM in it last week too, then? Never mind. Wasn't much to miss, as he's not got a lot of screen time. I don't think I'll be tuning in for anything but him, but it wasn't that bad... though the bouncy hair-flip girl was severely annoying me, not least because she remained coherent after way too many shots.
And I caught the end of Charmed; Charisma's on next week with long hair and a cleavage and I practically teared up because I get very sentimental over the Buffy/Angel actors and want them all to do well.
And if someone doesn't give Alexis some work soon... ::sigh::
We've been watching videos (that need to be rewound!So primitive ::g::) as the posh DVD is still at the repair shop and I don't like sitting in the basement for hours at a time watching the one down there. Last week was Starsky and Hutch which was fun as long as you didn't try and make any connection between it and the show because, hello, Hutch not like that at all. This week was Underworld. That got slated and though, yes, derivative to the nth degree, I still enjoyed it more than I thought I would after Van Helsing put me off KB. And her love interest was yummy. Mmm.
