Spring is here. Yes. I know; I just saw a dandelion.

Parents arrived home safely after a good flight; thanks to all who wished mum well over her sprained ankle.

WG and I have started the short smut-sequel to 'Saturation' and I'm looking forward to being as kinky as I want with no shame. Not that I ever have any to speak of much and it's not like I don't still write plenty of PG just to prove I can...

We watched 'Shaun of the Dead' at the weekend. I wasn't sure I could cope with the grue but in the end I did with only two frenzied grabs at David's leg and we all enjoyed it very much. There's something about seeing the narrow English streets that makes my lip wobble and it was so very English. And, heh, the guy from Little Britain had a tiny role as the last neighbour to walk by when the two groups of humans cross paths. Very funny.

'Power of Persuasion' the fic Wesleysgirl and I wrote has been nominated by some kind person at the Bodice Ripper Awards in the Slash section. So cool; thank you!

I'm reading my Caroline Graham books again after watching a repeat of the first Midsomer Murder (Killings at Badger's Drift). The books are wonderful, my favourites being 'Death of a Hollow Man' with a theatre background and 'Written in Blood (writers group) but her non-series book 'Murder at Madingley Grange' which is funny and frothy and sharp is well worth reading. The TV adaptations are fine but they don't capture the tone of the books very well and they've ruined Sergeant Troy, turning him into a nice, fresh-faced lad when he's a racist, sexist, philandering, homophobic thug - and you can't help, not liking him, no, but feeling for him because we get to see his insecurities and weaknesses and limitations. On screen he has none.

The author does tend to have a few stock characters and she can be merciless with affectation but she never makes anyone wholly good and, unusual in mysteries, there's usually at least one gay couple/man/woman. In Hollow Man, Tim and Avery's relationship is given a lot of space and they're dealt with well.

Anyone else read them?
