Happy birthday to
demonmagnet and
jainieg! Hope you both have very special days :;hugs::
My house guests left yesterday for a road trip; they were heading to Georgian Bay and from there to the Algonquin, possibly Ottawa before coming back here on friday/Saturday. Poor Josh, their ten year old, got an ear infection, so we spent Saturday rushing him all over town trying to find an emergency clinic that was open. Finally got him looked at and some amoxycillin so hopefully he'll be fine for the flight back next week.
It's so lovely seeing my friend again; it's been three years since we met, as they live in England, but as we've been friends for :;gulp:: 30 years, that really doesn't make any difference at all; we just fall right back into step again.
I've been enjoying Dr Who very much, without really wanting to read or write fic about it. Which is fine. That doesn't have to be an automatic response to a show or a movie I suppose ::grin:: I can't help wondering though, how much of an impact the change in Doctors is going to have on the fandom; it's interesting. Technically, they're the same person, but canonically there's always a significant personality shift as well as the physical change; how Rose will react/deal with that is fascinating and the mechanics for a writer of having to start again from scratch building up a character they've been writing about for a while... well, I suppose it's not unlike Angel/Angelus, Spike/William?
Veronica Mars premiered last night (or maybe it was on before and I missed it?). Anyway, David and I watched it, and he stayed until the end which is a rarity. Neither of us were blown away, neither of us hated it. It was fun and I'll watch the next one but I can't see me being into it enough to tape it and definitely not planning to get into the fandom. Fun to see the faces as my f-list has a lot of fic for it. Now I know who you're all talking about :-)
