Places in North America are incredibly far from other places. Or maybe MapQuest hates me.
We're hoping to go away on Thursday; we have the in-car DVD sorted, David's going to book the time off tomorrow and we're all set.
To drive 14 hours. One way. In August. To Maine, or Lake Superior, or Ottawa followed by the Algonquin with nothing booked... can you tell how not enthused I am? Going away, yes, because we haven't had a holiday in 3 years and David hasn't had more than a day or two's leave since Christmas, but this rush and panic and last minute scramble isn't fun.
I'm also suffering from an inability to finish stuff. Three original fics are hanging, one co-written one is waiting for plot inspiration to strike us, WG and I are tagging on NL and what do I do? Write my first SG-1 fic with a hubris the like of which is truly staggering because I may have downloaded the first four seasons but I haven't watched them yet. 1.1, 1.2 and six or so from S4 to be exact, plus a zillion vids and fics. I have a callus on the inside of my wrist where it rests on the desk as I scroll.
Whether I have the nerve to post a fic in a fandom I'm so woefully ignorant of, I don't know. It's worse than the jitters I got writing Doctor Who; at least there I knew the background and I'd seen all the current episodes. SG-1 is incredibly complicated and there's all these names with apostrophes...
I can't stop feeling giddy though. Doctor Who aside, this is the most excited I've been over a show since Buffy/Angel and this has that feel to it. Just wish I didn't have 11 seasons to catch up on, counting in SGA; Buffy I watched from S2 so I was absorbing it gradually, an episode a week. Except, yay for having 11 seasons, too...
