Lauren's birthday party looms (Lauren, Eleanor plus 10 five year olds, possibly more as not everyone has replied yet one way or another ::growls::). Her birthday is tomorrow but we decided to have the party on Saturday; makes more sense.
I'm not doing much; I've planned party games in minute detail before and it's never worth it. So now I have a couple of pass the parcels, musical statues (get them dancing, burning the energy) and when they arrive they step into a hall filled with balloons and believe me, huge ice-breaker as we have a fairly big hall, stairs open landing, and you can have a lot of fun with balloons when they can potentially float thirty feet up and lodge at the top of the skylight :-)
Even so, I'm still panicking and tidying (why? why am I tidying? why?).
Randomness; why did no one tell me OMG Jayne is on Stargate? Season 7, 'Heroes Part One'. And he's funny and gruff and married with kids ::adores:: I forget his Stargate name; I just call him Jayne. Sorry, Mr Baldwin.
(And very chuffed Serenity comes out Dec 20 but the artwork on the DVD is appalling).
Stargate has to be the worst fandom for names people spell differently in fics. Even 'Stargate' itself; in a fic is it a capital letter or not; if you just say 'gate' does it have an apostrophe preceeding it? And why the hell isn't it 'star gate'? Buffy has the many versions of Wyndam-Pryce but by and large there's masses of canon to go by. Stargate goes and calls Janet 'Fraiser' and says it like 'Frasier' to my ears but at least we see her name in the credits so that one's easy...but people still spell it wrong.
And one thing that bugs the hell out of me; in the SGC, they sometimes have scenes, like in Fallen, where someone goes to visit Teal'c in his small room, which normally has a guard outside. In Fallen it was a memory-wiped Daniel.
He walks in after knocking, immediately after knocking in fact, even though Teal'c could've been doing anything, and then carefully pushes the door even wider open and proceeds to ask all sorts of questions, emotional and what not.
Now, me, I'd close that door before having a private chat. Unless it's a lighting issue it just screams, 'ooh, two men in a room! Have to have the door open or people might think they're fucking.' Which annoys the hell out of me.
Not as much as that guy (Reynolds?) not wanting to give Hammond mouth to mouth in 'Prometheus Unbound' though. Sheesh! Don't air force officers get taught basic first aid and how it's really not a come-on to resuscitate a superior officer?
And a heads up; Space tonight has at 11.00 p.m. Behind the Scenes of SG-1 Season 9 followed by at 11.30, Behind the Scenes of Supernatural.
