Last night I went to the library and rented season 2 of UK QaF and Benny and Joon. David looked as if he'd bitten into a sourer than usual lemon but I dug my heels in. S1 took me two nights to watch but I knew S2 had finished early so I was able to watch it and then Benny and Joon and still be in bed by 11.00.
Enjoyed both. I missed Nathan's friend, Donna, who wasn't in it, but it was fun. I laughed out loud, which is something I don't do often, and got misty eyed now and then. Anyone else watch this, or do you all watch the US one, which I haven't seen? It was a little OTT in places; I get so sick of films where people abandon their lives in a split second and create a scene. It bugs me.
Benny and Joon I rented for Johnny Depp of course. I found the film itself to be entertaining but superficial; it felt as if big chunks of it had been hacked out; no time had passed but people had got to places in their relationships that should have taken longer...maybe it's just me. Depp was lovely eye candy and I was impressed by how well he did the physical acting; the silent comedy routines. The bit where he's asleep on the couch and his hair is falling back from his face as Juniper sketches him ...he's very beautiful in an exotic way.
