I'm not going to get any fic written am I? What with Wodehouse smut and kerfuffles...yep. That little storm in a teacup about the rapefic just blew up again. Of course I remembered my sage words of wisdom about not posting in a rage. Remembered them, ignored them, starting to literally tremble and feel slightly ill and dashed off a zippy reply and hit send with a vindictive mouse click. It's the good old 'slash is out of character and you know it' row again. I am so bloody sick of this on that group.

I wrote back to him on the group and said,
I skimmed it, for obvious reasons, but femslash doesn't do much for me, nor does n/c, so I'm not sure my reactions are really objective as those two factors coloured my response.

I don't think it's in character. I don't think Faith would have behaved like this at this point in her life and I don't think Dawn would have submitted to it either. You never really made it clear why she did; curiosity, arousal? It squicked me to be honest; not blaming you; you gave adequate warnings and it was my choice to read it, but I didn't find it comfortable reading.

I inspired it? How? Because I write slash? I don't write slash like this. I don't write rapefic.

Like I "said" in my response to Jilun, to each his (or her) own.

Certainly.

Lighten up a rape fic by having the victim decide she enjoys it? Umm, yes, sure. Whatever.

I don't know what that word means, but it doesn't sound good.

It means revolted, sickened. it's the opposite of a bullet proof kink guaranteed to turn you on.

It was always meant to be more of a dark fic than a femslash one.

No reason it can't be both.

This is the real reason I had to respond. This is a segment from your fic

No it isn't. Slash isn't exempt from any rule of good writing that applies to het or gen fics. If you had mentioned that at the time I would have happily discussed it. With particular regard to the fact that Faith was having fun scaring Andrew; not kind, but Faith isn't particularly and if Angel was in danger I believe she'd kill humans to protect him.

And it is. You know as well as anyone that slash, by its very nature, is
> off/out of character. Also in this fic you have Xander shoving his fingers
> up Andrews's ass. You don't get any more out of character than that.

Whoa. Just hold on there. Do I heck as like know that. I don't and it isn't true.

Want the polite answer? That's utter bollocks. The Ethan/Giles and Spike/Angel relationship, to name but two, are rife with sub text and in this recent season of Angel it's become text. And I'm not writing my fic with an eye to pleasing people like you.

As I'm now well and truly angry, I'll also say what I politely refrained from saying yesterday. I'm beyond annoyed that you've linked me to this piece of badly written trash. If you ever post it anywhere else I'd very much prefer that my name not be mentioned as I'm in no way responsible for this badfic.

It's painfully clear that you didn't get it beta read. You should. It's appallingly written, leaving aside such intangibles as characterisations, genre and the the non consensual rape of a minor and concentrating on the basics. You have numerous typos, you switch tenses back and forth and you've got very odd notions about female bodily fluids.

It sucks. Just not in a good way like Giles and Spike and Wes and....
