I just got a copy of 'Stargate SG-1 : The Essential Scripts' edited by Sharon Gosling. It was published in 2004, so this is probably old news to most people, but eh, I find stuff, I share ::g::

It's a little poorly put together in that some of the interviews preceding each script cut off abruptly, mid-sentence, but even so, very interesting. Not sure how reliable they are for canon spelling purposes (there are several spelling mistakes in there of the 'your/you're' variety) but they have it as 'Ba'al' and 'gate' (no capital letter, no apostrophe) or 'Stargate' and 'kelnoreem' as one word, no apostrophes, and 'Tauri', no apostrophe.

The scripts are 'Torment of Tantalus', 'The Fifth Race', 'Window of Opportunity', '2010' , 'Wormhole X-treme!' and 'Abyss'.

There are some notes in the script about missing bits/added bits/ad-libs. Some ones I soaked up as a Jack/Daniel shipper…

Torment of Tantalus

Right at the end, when they're all back home.

Ernest smiles and hugs Daniel. Catherine hugs O'Neill. Then Catherine breaks them apart and moves in for a hug of her own from Ernest. Daniel looks at O'Neill who backs away a step -

O'NEILL Don't even think about it.

O'Neill's line was dropped.

So let's ignore Jack's command and think about it… Even with the line dropped, Daniel was considering hugging Jack, who as he only hugs Daniel on base when the day ends in 'y' someone's come back from the dead or similar, had to turn Daniel down. But really the fact that Jack divines Daniel's intentions at once is significant.

There's also an interesting bit of Daniel past history that was cut (and wouldn't have fitted at all with what they later went with in The Gamekeeper).

It's when he's at Catherine's house, telling her what they've discovered. In the cut part he has to persuade her, angry and hurt as she is, to go to the SGC.

DANIEL Look, I uh… you're one of the few people who know I was raised by foster parents.

Catherine nods, a little confused.

DANIEL This may be a long way to my point but I spent most of my life feeling bitterness towards my real parents. I didn't know why they gave me up. I felt abandoned. Then one day I woke up and realized I needed to know. I needed to understand what happened.

CATHERINE You found them?

DANIEL They had died. Six months earlier.

CATHERINE I'm sorry.

Moving on to Window of Opportunity, the two main gripes I have with this are Jack kissing Sam and then giving her that look and the way he lets Daniel get knocked flying deliberately the second time around. The kiss is still there (not RDA's or AT's idea) but there's a better version of the collision in the script originally at least.

Second time around…

They approach the corner again. O'Neill puts out a hand and stops Daniel.

DANIEL What?

O'Neill waits. A beat, then Siler who crashed into Daniel in Act One comes around the corner. He pulls up in time when he sees them.

SILER Excuse me, doctor, didn't see you there.

He goes around them. O'Neill gives Daniel a smile. They start forward again.

BAM. This time Daniel runs into the second person coming around the corner - the huge TECH assistant following Siler.

Much better…
