An Anniversary of Sorts

It's a year today since I posted my first Stargate fic, a drabble called 'Convergence'. I wrote it after seeing a handful of episodes, which, yes, verged on the presumptuous, but what can I say? I was excited :-)

I watched my first episode on August 1 after reading one of byrne's Jack/Daniel fics and getting curious, and then watched, recorded, downloaded, every episode I could, ticking them off on a list, taping sometimes three a day. When I get an obsession, I get it. And by Christmas, if not earlier, I was all caught up on SG-1 and SG:A.

Now, a year later, I'm slightly disenchanted with the current season, a little concerned about the viewing figures, cringing about certain photographs for an upcoming episode (I don't like seeing people I love make idiots of themselves; Wesley stripping for the camera on Angel, or the ballet sequence? ::shudders:;) but still totally there for the show as a whole and still solidly a Jack/Daniel fan although I've written plenty of other pairings because, well, I wanted to.

In a year I've accumulated nine box sets of DVDs, nine non-fiction books about both shows, and seven tie-in novels, written 42 drabbles and 51 fics for SG-1, 6 drabbles and 8 fics for SG:A. And dragged my husband and children around Vancouver to look at Stargate locations when we were there on holiday (fun for the whole family!).

And, saving the best for last, met a host of new friends, all as welcoming, kind, talented, and helpful as the friends I'd made in the Buffy fandom.
