Just watched today's episode of The Sentinel, S3's 'Crossroads' where Jim tries to go off fishing alone and Blair and Simon follow him.
Which, you know, I can see why he was annoyed because, yeah, sometimes you DO just want to be by yourself. And we got him grabbing them both by the arm when they were about to go off in hurt huffs and saying:
Jim: Look, get your tails out from between your legs, huh? I love you. I don't want you to go away mad. Let's go have a bite to eat and we'll talk about it and then you can hit the road, okay?
Then Blair falls ill with a supposedly deadly virus and Jim gets grim-faced and panicky. You have to see it to really get the impact but he's not happy one little bit about being kept away from Blair:
Jim: I'd like to see the doctor from the CDC.
Crockett: He's busy. My orders are to protect him from interruption.
Jim: This isn't an interruption. This is about the condition of my friend.
Garner comes over.
Garner: What's the problem?
Jim: The problem is that this has become personal to me and I'd like to know what's going on.
Personal. Oh, you bet it is. And then Jim MacGyvers a door open and did I mention Don Davis was in this one being his sweet self (sort of...it doesn't end well; never has for him as a guest star and I just knew he was going to be a baddie for the same reason)?
Lots of fun.
One of the commercials was for Scotia Bank; was that MacKay's sister as a bank teller? Looked like her...
I haven't seen last night's SGA yet but I enjoyed SG-1 for the most part. I have issues with the way they're shorthanding stuff that would once have been allowed to unfold at less of a breakneck speed but it was fun.
Teal'c's hat has to go.
Vala running after them in the credits was the cutest thing ever and I rewound. That tickled me.
Emerson. Cannot see why, apart from the cancellation, he had to die; Sam caves if you scowl at her these days; they could probably have pinched him and she'd have started dismantling stuff. Yes, I'm slightly bitter.
To be honest, I'm sick and fed up with the Helen of Troy stuff; Sam is attractive, sure, but not so drop-dead gorgeous as all that. She's a middle-aged woman in a baggy uniform and that's absolutely fine. She's a soldier, dammit. Well, they held true to form, didn't they? Hits on Sam; gets blown up messily in space.
Daniel looked cute (but if you can get by without your glasses sometimes, sweetie, I want to know why you can't all the time) but the joke about 'I'm always prepared' had me grinding my teeth because I'm sure I've heard them saying that to button guy before. Having said that, no way, no how is Daniel in the chain of command and Mitchell's slightly shocked, why are you sitting in that chair, was dead-on.
The end gambit had me confused; I kind of guessed it was Cameron but how did he persuade the alien he was uh, thingummy from the LA? Was it the same alien he'd spoken to on the ship? Did we see him get him with the ring? Oh, never mind... It's only a plot point...
And how long does it take to fly back and forth to Earth in the dodgy ship? Going all that way just to report that they'd lost Daniel and Vala seemed a waste of time.
Teal'c losing it was awesome and a nice homage to Jack doing something similar in Abyss.
