I'm not sure it needs a cut but I'd rather do one than spoil someone, so
SGA 'The Return' had me wincing because it tapped into one of my... not sure what to call it. Not a squick, not a fear... There are all these books where the children are playing and they've constructed this elaborate world, and it's solid, rock-solid, and they're serious about it and then... bedtime comes and it all gets knocked down as the grown ups sweep in and dismantle it.
The end of Tunnel in the Sky by Heinlein is like this and it breaks me into itty bitty pieces.
So did this episode.
And for all that it was a feast of slash, omg, was it ever... (Ronon romping and wrassling with Sheppard? ::loves to bits::) I was still there with Elizabeth, hunched up, isolated, numb and homesick.
The Ancients are a pain in the ass. How dare they make things pop up out of the ground that didn't pop up for John? :;growls:;
