Happy Birthday
felisblanco and
lonelybrit! May the sun shine down and the celebrations go on long after it sets ::much love::
Last night's Supernatural, 2.04, was, I think the weakest of the season so far in some ways. Uneven is probably the best way I can describe it.
Again, this felt very much like a riff on Buffy; Dawn bringing back Joyce, Buffy coming back wrong...
The MOTW was almost incidental which is starting to get a little implausible. I found the girl profoundly irritating before she died and worse after and the man (Mike? I never remember names) died unnoticed, unremarked. It's starting to get to me that the boys slip out of towns unhindered by any police suspicion about the trail of bodies. And how could someone slash their own throat without it being considered even vaguely suspicious? The angle of the cut would be all wrong.
The MOTW is getting to be too convenient a metaphor for whatever the boys are going through.
Having said that, a lot to love. And yes, Dean catching Sam about to watch porn was one of the bits and yes, I was tempted to write a fic where they're both jerking off surreptitously in the dark or something.
Ooookay. Moving on.
I like Sam's hair because it's not in his freaking eyes anymore, GOD, that was bugging me!
David watched it with me and was completely ready to punch Sam himself for going on and on and on at Dean. It did get a bit much but it was saved by Sam's very real pain and anguish at his loneliness now Dean's withdrawn like this. And Dean is cracking, cracking... and then at the end it's (nearly) all out there.
Unless the whisper in a dead man's ear... sorry. Unless John's last words to Dean were to tell him that he'd been dead, not about Sam, in which case it's all out there, but I don't think so.
The final scene was perfect. Loved that Sam didn't have anything to say; Dean's right; there wasn't anything. It's true.
But it's the second time for Dean. The Reaper gave him life once before.
Again, just like Buffy.
