First, Happy Birthday to the lovely [livejournal.com profile] bookishwench! May your day be filled with all good things from dawn to dusk and later ::much love::

I'm late with Supernatural thoughts because I didn't have much to say; enjoyed it a lot, was creeped out in places, snickering in others, but nothing came to mind beyond that.

I woke with one stray thought, though, so I'll shove it down in black and white before I forget it.

Supernatural is one show for which I'm 100% unspoiled and happy to stay that way. I like finding out what's happening as it happens and making wild guesses. So all of this is just that; guessing.

It's becoming clear, has been for a while, that Sam and the others, aren't perhaps, entirely human or perhaps the sons of their putative fathers. (Did the twin's father ever get mentioned/killed? Did I miss that? I thought maybe he was the man in the gun shop as there seemed no reason for the doctor to kill him first in the premonition)

Midwich Cuckoos in other words.

But harder to spot as they're not all blond.

And they're not all male, either; not sure where that idea's come from, but I saw it mentioned somewhere. The family they saved at the end of S1; that baby was female, wasn't she? By coincidence, the three others we've met are male but there's no reason to think they all are.

So the demon's seeded the world with his spawn.

Eesh.

And yet, classic.

And they have free will because they're half-human and yet they have that darkness, too. When Sam was saying he was a killer and Dean disagreed, I kept thinking back to the Asylum episode when Sam shot Dean. Mind-controlled, sure, but how much control could a spirit have over him? Maybe less control than a blurring of Sam's humanity for a crucial instant.

The no fire for the evil twin's adoptive mother was an interesting twist which I didn't really like. It messes with the rules and I'm not sure there's a point to it. But I'm in the dark here so I'm willing to wait and see.

Okay, that's all I've got.

I guess I'm still recovering from Spinal Tap, the singing of the Speedwagon, and Dean's reaction when he got the Impala back :;pets him::
