I just finished watching NCIS 1.10 'Left for Dead'. When you've been writing fic for a while (five years in May for me) you get pretty good at spotting jump off points and I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that this episode where you find out that DiNozzo stayed at Gibbs' house six months earlier and it didn't work out well, coupled with that ending: "My door's unlocked" "I know" was one of them?
I can't help wondering why all my favourite pairings have reasons why they can't be together and their relationship has to be secret, though. Giles/Spike; Watcher/vampire; so much a no-no. Jack/Daniel, DADT, Dean/Sam; brothers, Jim/Blair, partners and there's those pesky anti-frat rules and now the same goes for Gibbs/DiNozzo. One day I'll get to write a pairing where they can not only live together openly, but sue the ass off any employer who objects on the grounds of discrimination. And, yes, I know there's good reasons for a ban on relationships in some jobs, I'm just tired of forever climbing that wall to get to the smut believably, I guess ;-)
