Wishing [livejournal.com profile] sistakaren and [livejournal.com profile] treacle_a the happiest of happy birthdays!

Hope today brings you all you ever wanted with extra sprinkles and a cherry on top :;much love::

I've just dropped David off at the pub to watch the FA Cup final. It probably has a different name now, like the Meow Mix Cup Final but what the hell, it's the FA Cup to me.

And I did it in our new car which I've totally forgotten to mention here. We finally went for the first one we saw as, despite the high mileage, it was the only one that had everything we wanted and it was a good price. It's a blue 2005 Ford Freestyle, built-in DVD player (cue hysterical screaming from E, L and all of E and L's friends) and the only downside of that is that when they're listening to a DVD with their headphones on we can't play music. Maybe there's a way; we'll keep experimenting. I'm just still trying to work out how to load the CD player; we were still on cassettes in the old car.

The night we went to buy it was fraught; we pulled up to the garage and there were people peering in the windows and gearing up to take it out for a test drive! Our car! We sat at the red light watching them, speechless with horror, but managed to nip in quick and buy it while they went off and test drove the other two Freestyles on the lot.

I think we were scarred by the Christmas tree experience.

So we went to pick up the Freestyle on Wednesday and left the Intrepid behind, looking oddly bare and naked without his plates (we discovered all this time David has thought it was a girl car when everyone knows it was a boy car) and there was much sniffling and Eleanor was in floods of tears for a good fifteen minutes.

I pointed out in my best Mommy way that what was important wasn't the car but the people in it; the Davitt family, all driving along, and look, see, Mommy got you two Shrek Happy Meal toys when she somehow happened to buy a Filet of Fish meal at lunchtime, can't imagine how that happened.

Lauren, who is heartless, callous, and adores change and wasn't bothered a bit at leaving our old car behind, piped up, 'and none of us are dead, are we, Mommy?'

She does have this way of getting to the heart of it.

And now, beautiful day though it is, I'm going in the basement; huge yard sale next week at my friend's house and we're selling some of the baby-related junk that's just sitting there. Which means chipping ancient Weetabix off the high chair and such.

Wish me luck.

And, ooh, you know I said Richard Burgi was in that new film with Jared about the painter? He plays Jared's dad.

Jim Ellison is Sam Winchester's dad. I like it ;-)

And hopefully he won't be hacking people up so I can watch it.

ETA Moonridge auction stuff is here:

You need to register to bid; only takes a minute. My fic is on page 6 :-)

Not just Sentinel stuff and fics being auctioned off, either; quite a bit of SG-1 and SGA. I saw a T-shirt David Hewlett had autographed in there.
