David just left to take my parents to the airport. They've been here for three weeks and I probably won't see them again for a while; maybe in the spring. We're all feeling very empty and quiet. Thank God Lauren hugged them goodbye after crying everytime they spoke to her during the visit.
It's times like this that make emigrating hard; I grew up with my grandparents right there, plus a crowd of aunties, uncles and cousins. Eleanor and Lauren have us and our friends; I suppose it's better than nothing but family...the history, the links; you just can't duplicate that.
I've missed a lot of posts because, of course, being with them came first so don't be surprised if I give feedback on something you've practically forgotten you wrote as I catch up ::grin::
I'm also trimming my friends list just a tad...seeing the scores of posts each day has left me all panicky somehow. I don't think people will notice as most are people who didn't friend me back so they won't mind me going. God, that sounds so schoolyard! It's not because they didn't that I'm doing it; some of my favourite people haven't friended me back and I wouldn't dream of dropping them; it's just that in some cases I've looked at their LJ's and realised I've skipped entries regularly/never posted in them/ they've never posted in mine/they don't use it anymore, so what's the point? And, standard comment; if anyone thinks they'd like to ease me off their list and doesn't quite like to, go ahead; I'll understand.
I'm feeling a bit mizzy...::sniffle::
