I posted my recent S/X ficlet, 'Dancing in the Dark' on the Buffy creative newsgroup. Got some delightful, in depth feedback consisting of 'yuck'. That was it.No smiley, just 'yuck'. So, feeling mildly annoyed, I posted back,

"I'm feeling the same way about your feedback.

If you don't like a pairing, don't read it. If you're too young for R rated, stay away. If you can't express yourself with even a modicum of eloquence, don't bother."

Got this in reply,

"OK..here's some more ...I like your writing but not the vision of Spike and
Xander embracing one another.
The "yuck" was meant to be humorous. If your gonna put your work in front
of spectators don't be so defensive, and although I said I liked your
writing I didn't pick up the articulacy to award it with so a compliment as
eloquent."

Does that last part make _any_ sense? Nitwit. Defensive? About my fics? About being expected to read minds? You bet ::grr face on::
ETA; this poster, unless they're using someone's account, is male btw; I should have said. That newsgroup has a lot of male writers which is interesting as I'm guessing 99% of the fanfic I read is written by women. Most of them are very nice people and come up with some good fics. This guy (who doesn't write fanfic AFAIK) is the exception.
