I want to talk about the movie, so I'll cut for spoilers.
The movie was fairly short; around 90 minutes, and needed to be longer. It was deeply frustrating to watch the bloopers and then not have them show up in the movie, not because I wanted more of RB calling young men 'puppy' (well...not entirely...) but because there was a subplot involving him that they showed only part of which was deeply confusing.
This movie made me jump a few times but was, overall, about as scary as the average episode of Supernatural. No gore, some female nudity (and a great bit where Kim Poirier licks her way up a channel of ice the female bartender is pouring vodka down and then goes to town smooching said bartender with a lot of (presumably) cold tongue involved.
It wanted very hard to be The Faculty and a cult movie and missed by a mile but there were a few likeable, quirky characters and some nice slashy moments where the two main male leads get pretty schmoopy and tell each other they love them. That doesn't sound right. You know what I mean. They're just friends (they spend the whole movie trying to get laid by the alien girls) but it's adorable even so.
Okay; missing chunks.
Basic plot is this; campus, winter, hot blonde chicks who are aliens from a dying planet who need to impregnant Earth men but they can't get the temperature right so when they have sex, morph and thrust a tentacle down the man's throat he freezes from the inside out (with a flagpole erection :;rolls eyes::) and no babies.
Yes, it's mpreg...
Twist: one of the aliens falls for hero's best bud and he willingly agrees to be a baby factory; it almost works but he dies and hero goes on rampage killing aliens. When the dust settles, he discovers the dark-haired tomboy girl who's been helping him is really hot (she takes her hair down and shakes it out) and the movie ends on much smooching.
Except she's an alien, too and bye-bye hero...
What was missing; RB, Detective Kirk, has a fellow detective (female with blonde hair but not an alien) and it turns out, improbably, implausibly, that despite looking much older, she and hero were once an item (talk about cradle snatching; he's barely old enough to shave).
Their relationship is never explained, could easily have been excised and didn't advance the plot.
Second, one of the bloopers shows RB giving one of the aliens his card and her showing up at his place and kisisng him, with the door closing. This is not shown in the movie.
It should have been.
Why? Because at the end of the movie, we see RB clearing his throat twice and rubbing his neck. Obviously, as with hero's friend, he's been successfully implanted and the alien babies (spidery things) are about to surge up his body and come out of his mouth (ick). Why he wouldn't have shared his assault with hero or his fellow detective I don't know. Why this subplot was missed out so that you'd just think he was coughing if you hadn't seen the bloopers (which aren't on the US version), I don't know.
So, not a brilliant movie. I wasn't bored, and it had some funny bits, plus the aliens were slightly layered, not just evil, but it could've been way better.
