Happy Birthday
versaphile! Hope you're at the start of a wonderful day that keeps on getting better and sparklier ::hugs you::
I'm just off to do my library volunteering and still feeling full from supper last night which was way more fun than supper usually is as the lovely
autobadgirl braved a storm (lightning! thunder! the computer went off!!!) to share it with us.
I was adventurous and did two recipes from the Food and Drink magazine the liquor store hands out four times a year (very posh and glossy; good read). I did a pasta dish where you make a sauce with sour cream, onions, apples, celery, carrots and other stuff and then add the pasta, followed by a version of an upside down cake; caramelised pears and gingerbread using fresh ginger and served with whipped cream. Turned out pretty good. I tried to get the wine they suggested to go with the pasta in a fit of curiosity as to whether it would, but I'd gone out food shopping too early and the LCBO doesn't open until 10.00. I stood outside for five seconds, pondering whether to wait the ten minutes needed and decided I looked pathetic and desperate and what the hell, we had a nice Wolf Blass at home anyway.
David had to go out to soccer so we had plenty of time to chat and then I got her hooked on Eureka by playing her the first episode and the cute and quirkiness did its job :-)
