I met (in alphabetical order) [livejournal.com profile] circe_tigana [livejournal.com profile] fitofpique [livejournal.com profile] flowery_twat and [livejournal.com profile] glossing! I did, I really did. So the next person who tells me my online friends aren't 'real' friends is going to get my best raised eyebrow and supercilious drawl as I disabuse them of such a ridiculous notion. I had a wonderful time and could have stayed for hours longer if I didn't have a 90 minutes drive to tackle and a 7.00 am start the next day.

I have to say that although I came away misty eyed and adoring as they're even scrummier/funnier/cuddlier in person than on the computer (yes, hard to fathom, but true) they're probably all going to be slagging me off terribly today because of what I did.

God. I feel dreadful! I got there, didn't get lost, managed to deal with the insane lane changes where the bit of the 401 I was on suddenly started to be something else and I had to push and shove across three lanes very, very fast to stay on it. I navigated through the city without a single hitch, found the car park, found the pub, found them all (we were tucked away in a little alcove room which was perfect and no one else came in because we were scary. Yo. Apart from the waiter who was cute but seemed a little bemused/amused).

I decided I really had to go at 10.45 and darling [livejournal.com profile] fitofpique walked me back to my car. I got in, drove off, daringly taking a slightly different route, but quietly confident.

Three minutes later I realised I'd walked out without paying for my drinks. I went icy cold and sweat began to trickle down my back. It's the funny way you do it over here :;wails:; You're so trusting. In England you don't get to slurp a drop until you've paid your money; here they bring you gallons of cider and never seem to want anything but a smile and a thank you.

I am so sorry . I don't know how much a small cider and a coke are in Toronto but if whichever of you paid my tab lets me know, I'll mail it, or buy you some LJ time.

Anyway, I was duly punished for welching. I was so flustered that I missed my turning. Didn't realise I'd done it though, oh, no. Just drove and drove until it occurred to me that I should've reached Eglinton. So I stopped, tried to read teeny tiny map. Not good (I was so far off course I wasn't able to find me). My bump of direction was going, 'beep! beep! You're headed south! Should be north! danger, Will Robinson!'. Then I happened to see a sign.

I was on Bloor St West and had been for a very long time. Headed, well, west luckily. I calmed down enough to spot that if I took a right I'd eventually hit the 401 and did it. Got home at 12.15 so no worries.

Anyway, thank you all for being so welcoming and nice; loved chatting, loved meeting you all and I'm so doing it again sometime because I am braver than I think, just like Winnie the Pooh. ::huge hugs::
