Had something that made me giggle. Now, normally I'd say that and it'd be a lie because I'd really be a little hurt and upset and just saying that I giggled to hide it. But, really, truly, my first reaction was amusement.
Yesterday I reviewed two truly awful fics. I wasn't rude but I was frank.
For this one, http://www.fanfiction.net/read.php?storyid=1312063 I said
"Chapter three makes no sense at all; is it meant to be in this story? How can Buffy not know Spike when in chapter one she was kissing him?
And you really need to work on your punctuation and spelling. When someone speaks, you should put a comma in before the last "; "Hi,Buffy," said Spike."
And the other, http://www.fanfiction.net/read.php?storyid=1312265
"I never thought anyone could top Kennedy as most annoying Potential but Jay just did. As others have pointed out, this is Mary Sueism taken to extremes. Lots of the sentences make no sense at all. Did you read it over even once before posting it?"
Now, it might be a coincidence (and if so I apologise to the two authors though I somehow doubt they'll ever see this) but twelve hours later I got a fanfic.net review of my Giles story. "Retreat To The Future" that says,
"Oh my god! You can`t be serious! This is horrible!Its a discrase to all Buffy The Vampier stories!Please,please,never write again!I am begging you!All your stories suck!I swear,I hate it!I never want to see another chapter of this again!It has 'Delete' all over it! You spell words wrong and your imagination sucks!It`s horrible!You can`t be serious! Don`t finsish it!I`ll pay not to finish it!I can`t belive you suck!I seen 9 year olds write a better story than this!How old are you?13,14? 9 and 13.There is a diffence. YOU JUST SUCK! I hate all your stories!! They are horrible!! I think I am going to puke! *Pukes*rnI rather watch Barney than to read your stories!! just don`t finish it! OK!! YOU SUCK SO BAD! Its unbeliveable! What planet are you from? Mars?!!? Go back to your own world that has other suckie writers like you! I think you joined a club called 'I am a sucky writer'club!rnJUST NEVER FINISH IT AGAIN! never finish! I hope you get bad reviews worse than mine!! I swear! It sucks so bad! I hate it! Its so stupid! You can`t be serious! I never ever want to see a story like yours again! You are so stupid to think of a story like that! Never ever write again! You just suck! Unlike other people,my stories are even better. I never,ever,ever,ever want to see you writing another story! Yuck!! Just thinking about your stories wanna make me puke! YOU JUST PLAIN SUCK!"
It's anonymous so I can't do much about it, other than delete it, which I'm tempted to do as I don't really think the story is that bad (I know it isn't bad enough to warrant this) and I'm pretty sure it was prompted by a tit for tat motivation. Sigh. They say to mention things that can be improved in the review box but when you do, does anybody ever appreciate it?
