wesleysgirl suggested using a different browser and IE seems to work which means I guess, that's it's definitely a problem with Firefox :;sigh::
Thanks for the support and sympathy; hopefully things will be back to normal soon...
Of course, I can't reply to the comments in my inbox directly from there as they automatically open in Firefox which still hates me...
ETA2 I had LJ listed as a cookie exception (to allow it, I mean) and I just tried, briefly, allowing ALL cookies and suddenly Firefox and LJ were bestest buddies again. Hmm.
