It's counted cross stitch and I can count, dammit! All the way to ten in several languages.

So why do I keep finding I've run out of places to put stitches or have space where I should have xs?

Yes, I'm trying to finish the cross stitch I've been working on for the last 11 years.

I'd forgotten how long it takes to do even a tiny bit when you can only do five stitches before you need to change to a different symbol, usually requiring two different colors (Oh, Teresa Wentzler, I love your designs, but they're complicated!)

Must finish. Want to start new one.

Oh, God, I have to do all the backstitching, too!
