Just about to do some writing before tackling my weekly attempt to get the house looking halfway decent before the weekend when I know it will slump into chaos very, very quickly with all four of us in it all day.

Look under 'housework' in the dictionary and you'll find it defined as 'futility'.

I've almost finished the Moonlight book I mentioned a couple of days ago. It's good, but this is a very different Mick; much darker, pre- adult Beth (I can't see Beth falling in love with him to be honest) and with a different backstory in some particulars. His turning by Coraline, for instance, isn't the same and Coraline is a stone-cold monster also with a different backstory.

I don't know when the book was written but I can see why they made the changes they did for the show; no one could've really liked this Mick very much. He has flashes of heroism, but he's not at all romantic.

Neither is being a vampire. I love how the author has really put some thought into being a vampire; these aren't humans with fangs, they're entirely different creatures after they're turned, numb, slowly decaying bodies (hence the sleeping in a freezer), unable to see except in black, white -- and red...they're cool to the touch and they smell. You really get a sense of them being repulsive which makes a nice change.

I'd recommend it for any Moonlight or vampire story fan, but be prepared to wince a bit at some of what Mick does. It's also mostly written in first person present tense.

ETA One thing bugged me; the book spelled 'Macallan' wrong twice. For one thing it's 'The Macallan' but they had it as McAllen and Macallen.

And I might just go and copy paste this into a review on Goodreads if the book's listed there; I haven't been doing that and I really should.

It was so nice to find out that masses of you are over there too. I wish I'd mentioned me being there earlier :-) I've updated my pic there, too; the other one was about six years old, heh.

I happened to notice on TWoP that the book that inspired the series was released on Feb 1.In case I'm not the only Moonlight fan who didn't know, I'm passing it on:

Details here.

I'm amused that the vampire is called Mick Angel in the book...way to crossover :-)

It's called Angel of Vengeance and it's written by Trevor Munson who also wrote and produced the show.

It's on Amazon here with some positive reviews. Not on the Kindle as far as I can see. Darn. I've just figured out how to buy Kindle books from Amazon and read them on my Kobo, too.

We watched the final episode of Moonlight last night and gah, I hate that they cancelled it with a zillion loose ends like that! It was really getting interesting and I don't know how I missed it first time around. I'd definitely have been writing Mick/Josef fics, though I was never into Veronica Mars so Jason doesn't do much for me.

So I screencapped the Scene of Awesomeness (two of them actually) to soothe my miffiness that I'm all out of episodes now.

God, those two had a lot of chemistry and zing even when they weren't sucking on each other ::is wistful::

I've gotten Pat and Colin, David's parents, hooked on Moonlight (and H 5-0) and we just watched episode 1.12.

OMG ::fans self::

That Josef/Mick scene? Wow. Just wow. I won't spoil anyone who hasn't gotten that far yet, but when you do, you'll know the scene I mean.

And although I stopped watching SGU after a season and a bit, it's nice to see David Blue in it playing pretty much the same role, nerdy computer genius, but with fangs. Not that we see them.

I wish they hadn't cancelled this show due to writers' strike fallout. It's really finding its feet by this episode and a few more seasons would've been nice.
