Okay, does anyone know why the PTB suddenly decided to make Colby/David a running joke (or canon, depending on how you want to look at it)? The end of this episode reminded me a little of the episode of The Sentinel when Jim and Blair both go to the restaurant to meet Cassie and end up bonding.

scene discussion, cutting just in case )
For an episode without Colby in it, that was the slashiest David/Colby episode ever. Wow.

It's the one where they're trying to solve a murder before someone's executed and win a basketball game at the same time. The fun/serious jars a little here and there (and Larry totally cheated at the end) but it's still a very powerful episode. It also has Tony Longo in it, the man who did the Sky Boy! shorts with Garett Maggart.

Anyway, back to the David/Colby....

Colby is off on a fishing trip so David is teamed up with Nikki. He tries, rather wistfully, to get her to play a game he plays with Colby (get your minds out of the gutter; you have a bullet in your gun and a time machine; who do you go back and kill for the betterment of humanity) and she won't enter into the spirit of it so he says he wishes Colby wasn't on a fishing trip.

Later, David says something joking about being with her so that's his alibi when tire tracks at a crime scene match his car and she again just stares at him so he says Colby wouldn't have responded like that and she snaps back,

"You talk about him a lot. Don't you have a girl you should be talking about instead?"

Uh...

Then later yet, she catches him furtively, sneakily leaving Colby a voice mail to 'update him on the case' (sh'yeah, right, like he needs to know when he's on holiday?) and says 'Did you just call him 'baby'?'

David says, truthfully, that it was 'buddy' (still a pet name the way you said it, David, sweetie) and she said something I couldn't catch about maybe he should be calling 'JDate'? I googled that and it's a Jewish dating service. David's Jewish, too? Or she's a David/Charlie slasher? Who knows.

I pet this episode.

I'd forgotten LDP was on Psych as well as Numb3rs. This 50 second clip is just yummy. Holster pron. Finest kind. And I just typed 'porn' as 'pron' by accident so I can see how it got to be used that way. Like 'teh'. I do that one a LOT.

It's Don and Charlie doing a Numb3rs take-off of the Pac/MC ads, in character.

I know. Everyone's seen it already :-)

And I found another pronounciation difference; in the UK, we say long-ee-tude, not lon-gee-tude.

I think that's the one, anyway.

Talk about an OMG moment (and no it's not the one where they drop frozen pumpkins off the roof and one explodes right behind Alan which made me jump higher than he did).

episode spoiler )
This is a piece of PG gen that popped into my head. No spoilers, 200 words.

Pinholes )
I'm getting used to 'herbs', 'oregano', 'caramel', 'tomato', 'centrifugal', 'beta' and 'basil' to name but a few, being pronounced differently over here but I was thrown in a Numb3rs episode I watched this week. They're tracking tidal currents and they go out on a boat and drop labelled buoys, then track when they hit the beach.

Both Charlie and Amita called them 'boo-ees' which had me wriggling a finger in my ear, sure I'd misheard.

In England, we pronounce 'buoys' as 'boys', the word derived, I assume from 'buoyant' (boy-ant) because they're things that float. I guess. Seems to make sense.

So is that really how it's said in the US? ::is curious::

My Moonridge fic is now done and with its awesome beta, [personal profile] wesleysgirl. It's 30,000 words, well over the 20,000 words I promised, so I feel happy about that. Today, I started work on my next novel, which has to be handed in on Sept 1. I love the plot and I'd already drafted an outline and done 5000 words so I'm excited but I'm feeling very fannish about Numb3rs right now (just about to start the season 2 finale) and I'm torn wanting to write fic for it.

When they give me Don telling Charlie that he supposes he'll have to go on his knees for him and doing it, so they can play fight, it's hard to resist ;-) And I'm such a baa lamb; the Colby love kicked in just like you all told me it would with the episode where a shooter comes into the FBI offices. Loved that final scene with him and David drinking beer and going on to have comfort sex and the way he's so fascinated by Charlie.

I've been following the SG-1 comm kerfuffle over at Fandom Wank. Just utterly incredulous and so very disappointed in how it all went down. I felt my embarrassment squick kick in full force just reading that totally uncalled for reaction to a fic and I'm equally bemused by the fact that the only ones apologizing are the people I see as the victims.

This wank is profoundly depressing.

Fandom's lost some of its shiny.

ETA Recent posts by some of the people involved (links in the comments) have improved the situation some. Still a mess, though. It just goes to show how easy it is for things to go boom :-(

ETA2 Just been pointed out that the links in comments are on the DW post so adding them to the main post:

Heh. Sorry for the pun ;-)

I just watched the early S2 episode with the Gabriel the Columbian film student being targeted for assassination (and living about two minutes from what was Garett Maggart's house which means he's a very rich film student but moving on).

My God, did he and Charlie ever have chemistry! I was tempted to rewind and watch their scenes again because, whew. They packed a whole relationship arc into that episode. Longing looks, sharing of angsty memories and personal thoughts, sitting side by side and just generally looking one inch from kissing.

Is there any fic? ::hopeful look::

And then I watched the one with the wedding in the garden and ate up the Charlie (13) and Don (18) fighting on the lawn over who gets to take the girl to the prom angst.

I got spoiled for the Colby twist (my own fault; I was wandering around sites and naturally this long after it's not a spoiler) but -- don't hate me -- I'm not getting the love for him yet. David, yes. I like David a lot though I'd like it if we had more backstory on him. Larry, I adore. Colby just seems like background. Megan's good, though I liked Terry too so I'm sorry the actress left.

I'd forgotten how much fun it is to mainline a show :-)
Should not have done this with deadlines looming, but I abandoned the penultimate scene in the Legacy sequel and wrote this instead.

I've only watched S1 so it's not at all canon-specific and yes, obviously, incest as well as slash, so avoid if that's an issue. It was supposed to be more gen and funny and ended up slash and angsty. Do not ask me how that happened.

Around 900 words.

Breaking Eggs )
Can now see why Ian Edgerton is a popular choice to slash Charlie people with.

Oh my, yes ::fans self::

Quietly competent, hot, snarky, confrontational when needed but prepared to back down, hot, totally unintimidated by but appreciative of Charlie's brains, hot....

With summer hiatus on us (though new Burn Notice and Lie to Me, yay) and after reading Legion's excellent Numb3rs/Sentinel crossover fic, Broth3rs, I decided to start watching the show. I've seen a couple of episodes from this season (and the last one, go figure) so I know the basics.

No pairing essays at all for the show at [community profile] ship_manifesto surprised me but I read the Crack Van overview. Not feeling compellingly drawn to a single pairing yet, after the first two episodes though I can totally see why people slash the brothers; it's easy :-)

I was also charmed by the trailer for the new Hawaii 5-0. David asked why and I said the two leads hated each other and had just had a fight and he rolled his eyes and said, I suppose you'll be slashing them after that.

He knows me so well. Not that I think the hating is all that genuine with those two, but there's nothing like a fight to get the juices flowing and I'm trying and failing to think of any OTP of mine, het or slash, that doesn't have a canonical spice of anger/violence/wall slam/torture in the mix.

God, I'm a sick, sick puppy :-)

So, any classic fic recs for Numb3rs? ::hopeful look:: Slash wanted, but any pairing is good.
